ISR Lessons

ISR’s unique results are achieved through fully customized, safe and effective, one-on-one lessons with only your child and the instructor in the water. What your child will learn—and how they will learn it—is what makes ISR so different from traditional swimming lessons.

Always putting safety first, ISR emphasizes competence, which leads to confidence, and provides the foundation for a  lifetime of enjoyment in and around water. Instruction is geared for children 6 months to 6 years but we do not have an upper age limit. Lessons are conducted 5 days a week (Monday through Friday), at a maximum of 10 minutes a day, for approximately 6-8 weeks.

ISR Lessons are customized for each child to ensure their lessons honor their physical and emotional development as well as their previous aquatic experiences. What your child will learn depends on his or her age and developmental readiness, but in all cases, at minimum, your child will learn to roll on to their back to float, rest, and breathe, and to maintain this position until help arrives.

Rollback to Float

Infants - Early Walkers (approximately 6 months - 18 months)

The rollback to float program teaches your baby to independently turn themselves onto their back if ever face down in the water to safely breathe, rest, and float on their back until help arrives. This skill set takes about 6-7 weeks to accomplish.

*Infants must be at least 6 months of age AND sitting up independently.

Toddlers (approximately 18 months - 2.5 years)

With swim-rollback-float lessons, your child can swim underwater until they need to breathe, roll to their back to rest, breathe, and float until rescued by an adult. This skill set takes about 6 - 7 weeks to accomplish.

Swim - Float - Swim

Preschool to Young Elementary (approximately 2.5 years - 6+ years)

Children learn to swim underwater until they need to breathe, roll to their back for a few breaths until rested, then swim, starting the sequence again until they reach the pool steps, side of the pool, or the shoreline.

This skill set can typically take 6 - 8 weeks for a toddler to master and 4 - 6 weeks for an older child to master, but can vary depending on the child.
