Hey There
My name is Arielle Downing, and I’m so glad you’re here! My husband and I live in Alvin with our two boys, Carson (6) and Reece (4). I’ve been working with children in various settings for nearly 20 years, and for the last 14, I’ve been a special education teacher in Friendswood. Supporting families and their children of all ages and abilities has been one of the most rewarding parts of my life.

When I became a mom, I knew I wanted to find the safest, most trusted way to teach my kids life-saving skills in case they ever found themselves in an unexpected water situation. That’s when I discovered Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) with Araceli Merkle. From the start was in awe - I watched her patiently and carefully craft each lesson just for him. At the end of his first session I could not believe that my 9 month old baby was able to turn himself over in water and float! After several years of witnessing firsthand the incredible impact ISR had on my own children, I felt called to share this life-saving program with others and became a Certified ISR Instructor.

I’m committed to providing life-saving lessons to children in my community and am especially passionate about making these lessons accessible to those who may benefit from accommodations related to communication, sensory regulation, behavioral needs, or environmental factors. As a special education professional, I’m deeply aware of the heartbreaking statistics surrounding drowning in children— and the increased risk to those with disabilities. That’s why my mission is to ensure that our most vulnerable have access to the tools and skills they need to stay safe and confident around water. I look forward to working with you and your children!
